Grant for Mentoring Program

Our Club provides financial support each year to a Grade 12 female student completing her studies at both Balmoral and Yeronga State High Schools. The bursary provides financial assistance for a period of three years subject to completion of each year of study and re-enrolment and is designed to encourage these students to complete tertiary studies.

The Brisbane Airport Corporation Community Fund has just given our Club a $1000 grant to enable us to introduce a mentoring program for these six students receiving our bursary. Through the mentoring program our students will have access to a mentor in their field to encourage and provide support to them as they enter their chosen career and complete their chosen course of study.

We sincerely thank the BAC for this grant which will enable us to further advance the Zonta Mission of Empowering Women Through Service and Advocacy.

District 22 CONFERENCE 2023 -Update

The District 22 Conference 2023 is successfully concluded. From the warm welcome to Mackay by Mayor Williamson and Aunty Pat Corrie to the final business closure on Sunday 10 September, delegates and guests enjoyed the guest speakers, the several presentations by our education award winners, our Zonta International Representative Annika from Sweden and the Zonta spirit generated by many Zontians being and working together for the future of District 22. Congratulations to the newly elected Board Members and Nominating Committee, as well as to the many first-time Conference delegates who participated in the business sessions. Thanks also to the Zontians of Mackay who hosted the event and to the Organising Committee for their months of planning to deliver a happy and productive District Conference. The District Conference 2025 will be held in Mount Isa. In the meantime the 2024 Zonta International Convention in Brisbane will be the next major event to which we look forward.
