Zonta District 20 YWPA Award winner attends club meeting as guest

At the September monthly club meeting, members of the Rockhampton Club welcomed Isa from Finland, who is an inbound exchange student with the Rotary Club of Rockhampton Fitzroy. The Rotary Youth Exchange program provides an opportunity of a lifetime to high school students, to live and study abroad. Students spend up to 12 months living and studying in a foreign country, learning a lot about themselves and the culture of their adopted host families.

Isa is also the Zonta District 20 winner of the Zonta Young Women in Public Affairs Award which in future years will be known as the Zonta Young Women in Leadership Award and we were fortunate to have her as a guest at our recent club meeting.

Isa gave a very interesting PowerPoint presentation of life in Finland and spoke of the details of her volunteering and leadership activities which led to her success in the Award offered by Zonta. How different life is in Finland to that in Australia when the shortest day of the year gives only 3 ½ hours of sunlight with snow in abundance.

Congratulations Isa and our best wishes for your endeavours in the years ahead.

The Young Women in Leadership Awards are made possible by generous contributions to the Zonta Foundation for Women, Young Women in Leadership Award Fund, from Zontians, Zonta clubs and friends of Zonta International.
