Beaudesert’s Zonta Club to host meeting after almost 30-year wait
ZONTA Club of Beaudesert are preparing to welcome delegates and members to the first Zone District 22 meeting held in town in almost 30 years.
The event is expected to draw in up to 80 people from across south-east Queensland to The Centre Beaudesert on April 21.
The club aims to improve the status of women through addressing education, health and welfare in the local community.
Zonta Club of Beaudesert president Anne Beulah said she was thrilled local members were taking part in the meeting.
“We will have 21 Zonta clubs from Noosa all the way to the Northern Rivers in New South Wales coming to town,” she said.
“The meeting is about professional development for members who are taking on roles and responsibilities in their clubs.”
Ms Beulah said she was proud the local club had continued to grow in numbers and had reached 30 years in February.
She said hosting the event was yet another big milestone to celebrate as they continued to make history.
“The Zonta Club board were calling for nominations and we just put our hand up,” she said.
“We’re a good and active community group and seeing as we are marking 30 years, I thought this would be the perfect time to show other Zonta clubs what we do and to showcase Beaudesert.”
Ms Beulah said volunteering to bring the meeting to town was long overdue.
“Zonta Club of Beaudesert hasn’t hosted an area meeting since 1989,” she said.
“We hope everyone will have a good time and hopefully we can show members around town.”
