2016 AGM – Committee Reports – Advocacy(Communication PR/Archives)

Advocacy (Communication PR/Archives) Report 2015 – 2016

Chair: Gaye Dieben/Uli Hosang

Committee: Heather Stevens, Trish Littler, Jenny Garde, Di Faulkner

The committee seeks to promote Zonta and inform the community what Zonta does to improve conditions for women locally and globally.

All Maroochy Zonta events were well advertised, with press articles highlighting how all money raised is used to further the ideals of Zonta. Local print media was used to advertise the Birthing Kit Assembly Day, High Tea, the IWD Brunch, the Movie Night, the Area 1&3 meeting and the Garage Sale. Paid advertisements, submitted articles and free community news in the Coolum Advertiser, Coolum News and the Sunshine Valley Gazette, covered the events and gave information on the service provided by the club. Other media used included; My Community Connect, What’s On On the Sunshine Coast, radio stations FM 104.9 and FM 106.5. Feedback showed that the message was spread widely.

An article on club activities provided to the Community and Sport Newsletter published by the Sunshine Coast Council, was included in the April edition.

Our web page was further developed and managed by Sandy Gray, who did a marvellous job. This proved important; allowing viewers to see the club in the context of District 22.

The impact of social media in spreading the word about the club, had been well recognised and, a new member with the required expertise, Donna Bellringer, has set the club up on Facebook. This is a exciting era for the club.

Trish Littler has continued the important job of collecting material and maintaining the club archives.

Our thanks, once again, goes to Matt Hosang for his support as honorary photographer; taking photos for news items and club records.

Thanks to committee members and all club members who spread the word about Zonta and promote the club in the community.
