16 Days of Activism – 2012
On December 10th 2012 the Zonta Club of Toowoomba acknowledged Human Rights Day, and marked the end of the 16 Days of Activism for the Elimination of Violence against Women at the Toowoomba Village Green. Present were the our Mayor Paul Antonio, Councillors, Zontians and representatives from various community groups. Our Zonta club was very involved with The 16 days of Activism, with a new “White Lady” for each of the 16 days before hand. Each “White Lady” cut out model had a message concerning violence against women in the community. The “White Ladies”were placed strategically around Toowoomba in prominent positions and was supported by local media and raised community awareness and created much discussion.
