Rockhampton Club donates to Sexual Assault Support Centre
The Zonta Club of Rockhampton has joined with the Rockhampton Police Service to support women and girls who are victims of sexual assault. Zonta Service Coordinator Meredith Sutherland met with Senior Constable Mel Winslade, a Domestic and Family Violence Officer, to deliver items of clothing to Rockhampton Police for delivery to sexual assault victims. The need is monitored and restocking takes place regularly. This Rockhampton Club project has been in place for a number of years.
The Rockhampton Club, as with all Zonta Clubs worldwide, strives to promote and protect the human rights of all women and girls through the program, Zonta International Strategies to End Violence Against Women (ZISVAW). The program works to increase awareness and actions which are related to preventing violence against women. Involvement in local and national advocacy initiatives and local and international service projects is encouraged.
