Fundraising Dinner
On 20 February the Zonta Club of Noosa will be hosting a dinner at which Dr Luc Mulimbalimba Masururu will be speaking. Dr Luc is the Medical Director of Mission in Health Care and Development (MHCD) in DR Congo as well as holding the role of Medical Director of Luvungi Hospital. Most recently Dr Luc has also been voted into parliament as a Member of Parliament in DR Congo.
Dr Luc develops and runs maternal and infant health training programs for traditional midwives and birthing attendants in Kenya, DR Congo and Burandi and is the key person who distributes birthing kits throughout Eastern and Central Africa – with 26,000 birthing kits having been distributed in 2013.
Dr Luc is visiting Australia to promote the work of the Birthing Kit Foundation which is based in
Adelaide and to raise awareness of the plight of many marginal people in Kenya, DC Congo and Burandi. Dr Luc trained as a doctor specialising in epileptology and naturopathy and has committed his life to reducing the horrific levels of maternal and infant mortality in these countries by equipping traditional midwives with suitable birthing skills as well as distributing birthing kits and pictoral instruction books in local languages to take back to the village.
The dinner will be held at 6.30pm at Noosa Springs Golf and Spa Resort, Links Dr, Noosa Heads. Tickets will be $40 per head, with proceeds going towards the purchase of birthing kits.
