OUR PROJECTS

At times it’s hands on with our support of Birthing Kits Foundation Australia which has resulted in 1000’s of these lifesaving kits instrumental in improving maternal health and decreasing infant mortality in Africa and our neighbouring countries. To date this has been largely achieved through the involvement of local schools. In 2024 we launched our first Community Birthing Kits assembly day. This will be the first of many allowing our club to pay it forward for mothers who don’t have access to the same resources as we do.

We run a comprehensive campaign during the annual 16 Days of Activism advocating for an end to gender-based violence and to create an Ipswich community that is safer for all.

We have:

  • produced signage for businesses to display in public conveniences to promote support services,
  • partnered with Ipswich businesses to showcase our messages on local billboards and to display our Orange ladies to raise community awareness. We  have w
  • worked closely with Ipswich City Council to install an art project in Lobely Park in Churchill and a red bench in Tulmur Place and to orange the world by lighting up the City Council building.

We are active in supporting our partners, like the Domestic Violence Action Centre, during Domestic Violence Awareness month and packing care packs to support women who are escaping violence.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Zonta Ipswich is renowned for our annual International Women’s Day celebration to build awareness of women’s achievements and to highlight where more work is needed.

We run other fundraising activities throughout the year to support our work locally as well as Zonta’s International projects.

We are part of the District 22 Homelessness Working Group and are kicking off our involvement in the Zonta Says NOW to climate action campaign.

This is all part of our goal to make a difference in our local community and contribute to change on a global level.

And it’s not all work as we love to come together at our regular coffee mornings or for an after work drink. We also throw a good party!
