Rockhampton Club celebrates 35th birthday
Zontians and guests celebrated 35 years of service and advocacy recently while lunching at the Frenchville Sports Club in Rockhampton. District Governor Sandy Venn Brown was in attendance as well as Judith Anderson, who was a Charter member of the club, a Past District Governor and now a member of the Zonta International Nominating Committee.
A display of historical memorabilia was enthusiastically perused by all and jogged memories leading to animated conversation as well. Charter member Anna Tempest and new member Sharbaree Biswas cut the Anniversary Cake.
A slide show presentation of “Zonta Rockhampton through the Lens” which showcased photos of the club’s activities during the 35 years, was enjoyed during the proceedings.
Membership Chair, Berenice Payne, acknowledged the commitment of the three members who were presented with length of membership certificates by DG Sandy Venn Brown—Anna Tempest 35 years, Elizabeth Acton 30 years and Trish Collins 25 years. Margaret Anderton (35 years) and Meredith Sutherland (25 years) were unable to attend and will receive their certificates at a later date. Sadly Norma West, also a charter member with 35 years of membership, had passed away in July. Valda received her 30 year certificate in 2015.
Thanks to all who attended, especially those who travelled from afar.
