Club dinner meeting celebrated ZI’s 100th birthday

Members attending the November dinner meeting enjoyed celebrating Zonta’s 100th birthday. The ‘American’ menu of pork spare ribs and dessert of pancakes with maple syrup and ice-cream was a good choice for the evening. Candles turned the pancakes into birthday cakes. Guest speaker Helen Gallehawk (who was the recipient of the Zonta CQUniversity Science prize in 2001) gave a very interesting presentation of her years of study as a mature student, followed by some interesting career move stories. We look forward to staying in touch with her. President Catherine presented Helen with a gift of Zonta Coasters.

A big thank you to Elizabeth for the birthday decorations which added greatly to the atmosphere of the dinner, making for a very enjoyable evening.

District 22 CONFERENCE 2023 -Update

The District 22 Conference 2023 is successfully concluded. From the warm welcome to Mackay by Mayor Williamson and Aunty Pat Corrie to the final business closure on Sunday 10 September, delegates and guests enjoyed the guest speakers, the several presentations by our education award winners, our Zonta International Representative Annika from Sweden and the Zonta spirit generated by many Zontians being and working together for the future of District 22. Congratulations to the newly elected Board Members and Nominating Committee, as well as to the many first-time Conference delegates who participated in the business sessions. Thanks also to the Zontians of Mackay who hosted the event and to the Organising Committee for their months of planning to deliver a happy and productive District Conference. The District Conference 2025 will be held in Mount Isa. In the meantime the 2024 Zonta International Convention in Brisbane will be the next major event to which we look forward.
