Area 2 Meeting – Rockhampton 2018

Zontians from Hervey Bay, Maryborough, Gladstone and Longreach travelled to Rockhampton on the weekend of 14-15 April to join Zontians in Rockhampton and to take part in the Area 2 Meeting which was held at The Regent Hotel. A weekend of friendship and fellowship was enjoyed, while renewing friendships was a highlight of the weekend. A varied program was presented covering different topics.

After President Meredith Sutherland welcomed all to the meeting, Mayor Margaret Strelow opened the meeting. District Governor Ans Van Erp updated members on District 22 matters and Lieutenant Governor Sandy Venn Brown delivered  a presentation titled ‘What is Membership’. District Treasurer Jill Lucht, Area 2 Director Rosalie Welburn and UN Chair Bridget Mather also attended and delivered presentations. Past District Governor Trish Collins presented information re the Centennial Endowment Fund.

A very interesting presentation by guest speaker Professor Kerry Reid-Searle of CQUniversity titled ‘Mask-Ed’, detailed her approach to educating nurses through the use of masks and puppets.

On Saturday evening, Zontians and guests visited the Capricornia Printmakers at the Walter Reid Centre while enjoying wine and canapés. A relaxing dinner followed at the Heritage Hotel.

Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning saw presentations by clubs during which Valda and Karen presented for our club. Valda gave details of our High Tea @ High Noon function and Karen told of our plans to celebrate Zonta International’s Centenary. The weekend was enjoyed by all.
