Guest Speaker at Monthly Meeting

Our special guest at tonight’s meeting was Councillor Kara Cook. Kara spoke of her background as a lawyer specialising in family law and domestic violence and her work with the Women’s Legal Service prior to becoming the Councillor for the Morningside Ward. She spoke of her role as a Councillor and her plans especially in how she can contribute to our campaign to Say NO to Domestic Violence. Thank you for giving us your time tonight and we look forward to working with you.

Kara was delighted to be presented with one of the miniature orange ladies and said she will proudly display her on her desk holding her business cards

District 22 CONFERENCE 2023 -Update

The District 22 Conference 2023 is successfully concluded. From the warm welcome to Mackay by Mayor Williamson and Aunty Pat Corrie to the final business closure on Sunday 10 September, delegates and guests enjoyed the guest speakers, the several presentations by our education award winners, our Zonta International Representative Annika from Sweden and the Zonta spirit generated by many Zontians being and working together for the future of District 22. Congratulations to the newly elected Board Members and Nominating Committee, as well as to the many first-time Conference delegates who participated in the business sessions. Thanks also to the Zontians of Mackay who hosted the event and to the Organising Committee for their months of planning to deliver a happy and productive District Conference. The District Conference 2025 will be held in Mount Isa. In the meantime the 2024 Zonta International Convention in Brisbane will be the next major event to which we look forward.
