2017: 16 Days of Activism. (Zonta Says NO to Violence Against Women)

From 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10 December, Human Rights Day, the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign is a time to galvanize action to end violence against women and girls around the world.

• 2017: 16 Days of Activism, Zonta International will focus specifically on human trafficking, or trafficking in persons as it is commonly referred to at the United Nations. Almost every country in the world is affected by human trafficking, either as a country of origin, transit or destination for victims, the vast majority of whom are women and girls.

“Violence against women is a worldwide pandemic – it crosses every social and economic class, every religion, race and ethnicity. At least one out of every three women worldwide have experienced violence during their lifetime. We in Zonta International cannot accept this – as we need to use all our energy to eradicate violence against women locally and internationally through service and advocacy.”
